Hickory American Legion Fair ~ September 2-7, 2015

By sponsored August 27, 2015

Since 1913, The Hickory American Legion Fair features fun for the entire family including children's activities, entertainment, music, rides, commercial vendors, agricultural exhibits, and a wide variety of food and attractions. As more and more farms are losing to the rising cost of supplies or development, the theme for 2015 is Supporting Our Farms. The fair runs September 2-7, 2015 at the Hickory Fairgrounds off Hwy 70 in Newton.

This year's fair will bring bigger and better rides, incredible side shows, and awesome music. The Motorcycle Madness Freestyle Stunt Group, with their tricks and trick driving, will be featured nightly. Roaming the fairgrounds will be Buford The Bear, talking to children and adults. Past fair favorite Horses, Horses, Horses will be here. A new grounds act will be the Pork Chop Revue with some of the smartest pigs around. A yearly favorite is Randy Everette, Chainsaw Artist who will return again this year, as will the local boy, Dennis Cooke, with the Circle ‘C’ Petting Zoo and the highly enjoyed Racing Pigs. As always, visit the Craft Barn where you will find anything from potatoes to photographs. James H. Drew Exposition will again have rides that thrill you.

School aged children are admitted FREE on Thursday night. Also, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 – 6 pm ONLY, admission is FREE. Rides will be FREE from 5 – 6 pm ONLY. After 6 pm admission will return to the regular rate of: Age 0-6 FREE; age 6-17 $5.00; age 18 & up $7.00. Advance tickets are $5.00 each available at Medical Village Pharmacy on Fairgrove Church Road, Observer News Enterprise Office in Newton and three locations of Sig’s Tire: uptown Hickory, Startown Road, and St. Peters Church Road, Conover. Rides will be $1.25 per ticket with special rates of multiple tickets.
