Macaroni Menu ~ Sorbet in a Bag

Cool off from the sun's heat with this cool and healthy treat!

May 31, 2012

This is a great alternative to making ice cream for kids when you want them eating something a bit healthier!  It doesnt get better or easier than this, my friends!

What you need:

- 2/3 cup pure juice (meaning real juice, not "juice drink")
- Approx one tray of cubed ice
- 6 tbsp rock (coarse) salt
- 1 pint size Ziploc bag
- 1 gallon size Ziploc bag

What to do:

Place juice in small ziploc, then seal, being careful to squeeze the air out before sealing. Fill large bag with ice (should be about half full) and add rock salt. Place small bag in large bag, then seal the larger bag too.

Hand off to your child and shake for about five minutes, or until the juice has turned into sorbet. Open large bag, wipe off the top of the ziploc or give a quick rinse under cold water so you don't get salt in the sorbet. Open small bag and serve!

If doing multiple batches, you can reuse the large bag of ice, although you may need to add a handful of fresh ice and a small amount of salt each time.
