Macaroni Crafts ~ Tissue Christmas Tree

Keep the kids busy for hours with this simple craft

We love crafts that are easy for kids to do by themselves, keep them entertained for a while and don't cost a lot.  If you're like me, you already have a bunch of tissue paper around the house from old gift packaging; if not, find it at the Dollar Store.  That is where I got the foam cone for this project but if you'd rather use something you already have around the house, you can make a cone by gluing rolled up cardstock to a paper cup base.

Materials needed:

  • tissue paper, cut into 1" squares
  • foam or cardboard cone
  • glue
  • pencil

What to do:

- Place the eraser end of a pencil in the center of a tissue square and wrap the paper around to make a flower shape.

- Dab the paper covered eraser in glue and press to adhere to the cone.  It is best to cover around the bottom first, working your way up to the top of the tree.  Place the tissue close together to avoid leaving any big gaps.

- Cover the tree in whatever color tissue you like or have on hand.  Green with mixed in colors for ornaments and yellow on top for the star (as pictured) is just one idea; these also look great in groups of one color each.  Let your kids' creativity run free!
