Bootleggers' Bash for Autism ~ Sept 27

By sponsored September 18, 2014

On Saturday, Sept 27th, 2014 the Bootleggers’ Bash for Autism will be held during and after the Viewmont Street Strut. The event starts at 12 noon and lasts until 10:00pm. It will be held in the parking lot and grass behind Bootleggers Whiskey Bar at 2039 N Center Street (Hwy 127) in Hickory. All proceeds from ticket sales go to fund autism programs in the local schools!

Autism is a developmental disability. Children with autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder or ASD, have social and language problems. This results in difficulty communicating their wants and needs. They also have restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. Autistic people have difficulty dealing with sensory overload, such as bright lights and loud noises or combination of both. Autism may be mild or severe. All children with autism don't have the exact same problems. We are very blessed in Catawba to have two active school systems that help our Autistic kids.

Headlining Bootleggers’ Bash for Autism at 7:00 PM is The Folsom Prison Gang, America’s leading Johnny Cash tribute band. They are international recording artists from Bostic, NC who play festivals and events all over. At 12 noon is local artist Corey Jo Hefner. Corey spent time performing in Nashville and is the son of local musician, Nathan Hefner. Next up at 3:30 pm is local favorite: The Tony Bailey Band. Tony performs all over Hickory and the surrounding area. Tickets are $15 at the door, $12 in advance, and you can purchase 10 tickets for $99 ahead of time.

The local Pepsi Cola Bottling Company has donated use of their Mt Dew trailer where sodas, Aquafina, local beer, wine, and moonshine cocktails will be for sale. In addition we will have a portable Wood Fired Pizza Oven donated by Good Wood Pizzas out of Lincolnton. Pizzas, sandwiches, and salads will be for sale! The first half of the day will have games for kids with booths from The Catawba Science Center, Foothills Gymnastics, Frye Regional Medical Center, and more. We will have a Cornhole Tournament that afternoon at 5pm! People can come in the afternoon for fun & games for the kids until 5pm (kids 15 and under free receive admission). The armband is good for all day admission so we want people to come back for the Finale after finding a sitter.
