Stand Up to Bullying Concert ~ TICKET GIVEAWAY

September 18, 2014

2.7 million Students were bullied last year and over 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying!  It’s time for it to stop!

Stand UP Speak OUT of Catawba Valley is hosting its inaugural Stand Up to Bullying concert. We are excited to announce that the popular Teen Nation Anti-Bullying tour will be in town to perform and share their powerful message through music. The Tour will be performing and participating in community events from October 2nd through October 4th leading up to the big concert on October 4th at 2pm to kick off National Bullying Prevention Month!

The Teen Nation Tour is like no other anti-bullying effort!

The tour features emerging, young artists from around the county who perform music-fueled (Top 40 pop, rock and country hits) programs and concerts in addition to sharing personal bullying experiences and talking about types of bullying and prevention options. Students learn about bullying types, prevention, where to turn when it occurs, and more. The campaign is effective because the artists approach this important topic by relating to youth on their own level, sharing personal experiences and offering tips on how together they can stand and defend against bullying through music, and to spread the message about the importance of ending bullying and replacing it with kindness and compassion.

The "Stand UP to Bullying" concert is only one of many exciting events presented by Stand UP Speak OUT in partnership with Lenoir Rhyne University Lineberger Center for Cultural and Educational Renewal and sponsored by corporate and community organizations.

  • Thursday, October 2nd and Friday, October 3rd, the Teen Nation Tour will present four in-school programs at schools in the Catawba Valley, sharing their message and music with over 2000 students and educators.

  • Thursday October 2nd, at 6 PM the Hickory Youth Council and Stand UP Speak OUT will host a Rally Against Bullying at the Sails on the Square in downtown Hickory. People are encouraged to wear red to show their support for preventing bullying in our communities.

  • Friday, October 3rd at 7 PM the Teen Nation Tour will be at Barnes and Noble in Hickory.

  • Saturday, October 4th, TNT will perform the “Stand UP to Bullying" concert at Belk Centrum at Lenoir Rhyne University from 2-4 P.M. with a "meet and greet" after their performance.
