With the summer heat and fall sports upon us, busy moms are looking for healthy alternatives to keep the kids hydrated. Here's a way to replace store-bought sports drinks with a homemade version.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups crushed ice
- 2 cups coconut water
- 1/2 cup all natural juice (I used black cherry)
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
- Sweetener to taste (honey, stevia or agave all work great)
Directions:
- Place crushed ice in a container with a lid (I used a mason jar).
- Add coconut water, juice, lemon juice, and sea salt.
- Place lid securely on jar and shake well.
- Add sweetener to taste.
- Serve cold.
Makes about 4-5 servings.
This drink can be served "as is" or mixed with a 1/4 c water, depending on your child's preference. Try experimenting with other flavors of fruit juices for a sure to please, made to replenish beverage!
