Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun in the Local Area

Below is a list of all the Fourth of July festivities in and around the Western Piedmont area, to help you find July 4th fireworks, events, parades, crafts, things to do and more for Independence Day 2016 in Hickory, Morganton, Lenoir and surrounding areas.

  • Happy Birthday America Parade (Hickory) - Patrick Beaver Memorial Library's annual 4th of July celebration kicks off with a patriotic sing-along with Terry Edwards followed by a parade with special guests. Participants are encouraged to decorate their “wheels” in holiday red, white, and blue and join in the festivities.
  • Fourth of July Visor (Hickory) - Create a decorative Fourth of July sun visor.
  • Firecracker Hats (Hickory) - Celebrate Independence Day with a quick and inexpensive design to easily outfit a crowd of parade goers with hats that will flutter as they march.
  • Valdese Independence Day Celebration (Valdese) - Classic & Antique Car Cruise in on Main Street, live music by The Tim Clark Band, shopping, dancing, food, beer and wine garden, & Valdese famous fireworks at dusk!

  • Glen Alpine 4th of July Celebration (Glen Alpine) - Parade followed by live music, free watermelon, food for purchase and more!
  • Kiddie Car Parade (Hudson) - Children decorate bikes, wagons, skateboards and themselves for a march from The HUB to Redwood Park for a free afternoon of swimming at the pool.
  • 4th of July Edith Pirkle Parade (Maiden) - Parade followed by festivities and patriotic music at Cornerstone FLC. Prizes will be awarded!
  • Wilson Creek 4th of July Holiday Fun (Collettsville) - Food, music and fun.
  • Independence Day Splash Blast (Newton) - Join in pool games, karaoke, ice cream and fun activities for the entire family at the Newton Recreation Center swimming pool.
  • Old Time July 4th Fireworks Celebration (Morganton) - Games, music, vendors, and much more at Catawba Meadows Park followed by a spectacular fireworks show.
  • Lenoir 4th of July Celebration (Lenoir) - Games, activities and entertainment at Mulberry Recreation Center, ending with fireworks.
  • Marion 4th of July Celebration (Marion) - Parade followed by music, games and food, ending with the fireworks show.
  • Trail of Faith July 4th Celebration (Valdese) - Join us as we honor God and Country! Entertainment, games, food, activities, fireworks and more!
  • SkyShow 2016 (Charlotte) - Street Party outside of the Charlotte Knights kingdom with food trucks, activities for kids, live music and more beginning at 2pm. Charlotte Knights vs Pawtucket Red Sox  baseball game, with first pitch at 6:05pm. The largest fireworks show in the Southeast on tap following the game; full details here.
  • July 4th Fireworks at Tweetsie Railroad (Blowing Rock) - Enjoy the most spectacular fireworks show in the High Country starting at 9:00pm. Parking $10 per car; call Tweetsie at 1-828-264-9061 for more information.
