Getting the kids into a routine after school makes the afternoon and evening so much more pleasant. Do your best to enforce every step of the routine through these first few weeks of school; with consistency, it will become a habit that you can count on through the entire school year.
Print out our handy checklist, insert it in a clear plastic sleeve (or laminate it), and post it on the fridge. The kids can use a dry erase marker to check off each task as it's completed. More than one child? Have each child use a different color dry-erase marker or print the checklist on different color paper.
