Give the kids something fun and educational to do over the long summer break! The CVCC Summerscapes Camps help children retain skills over the long summer break and entertains them too.
Summerscapes is an enrichment program held on the Catawba Valley Community College campus each summer for children and teenagers ages 5 to 17 years of age. Established in 1958, Catawba Valley Community College located in Hickory is an innovative, comprehensive community college that fosters and promotes a multitude of learning experiences. In their 27th year, Summerscapes programs aim to inspire kids, expose them to new experiences, grow current skills, have fun and hopefully help children find something they love to do and perhaps pursue later in life.
Over 80 classes are offered June - August in a variety of subjects including arts and crafts, cooking, computers, math, science, reading and writing enrichment and more. Since the program started in 1991, many artists and teachers from the College and the community have enjoyed this opportunity to share their expertise and enthusiasm with young students. Morning, afternoon and all-day sessions are available with weekly programs that run Monday-Thursday. Popular sessions fill up quickly so register today!
