NEW Splash Pad in Valdese Opening July 18th

By Anna Hall, MacKidHickory Publisher July 13, 2017

Have you heard there's a new park coming to Valdese? The 1-acre playspace features a splash pad, playground equipment, concrete cornhole boards, a picnic shelter and a multi-purpose building for community events and fitness classes.

An extension to the Aquatics and Fitness Center, the new park is located at the corner of Laurel Street SE and Massel Avenue SE in downtown Valdese.

The park will open to the public following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 2pm. Name suggestions for the park are currently being sought on the Town of Valdese Facebook page and a park dedication will be scheduled for a later date.

Once open, park hours will be sun-up to sun-down. The splash pad is activated by pressing a button to start a 15-minute flow cycle. This feature will help conserve water when no one is using the park. Water to the splash pad will be turned off during the winter months, but the park and building will be open year round. Restrooms, located inside the multipurpose building, will be available to use anytime the park is open.

Make plans to attend the grand opening and be sure to add this fabulous new park to your summer must-do list!

The Town of Valdese is so excited about their newest amenity! This could not have been accomplished without the generous financial support of town partners: The Rostan Family Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, the NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund and USDA. Their efforts will be appreciated for generations to come as families and neighbors come to play, bond and fellowship.
