As the weather cools and school routines get back into full swing, a great place to reclaim a little family time is at the City of Hickory’s Sails Original Music Series, each Friday night in September from 6:30-8:30pm under the Sails on Union Square. The Sails’ stage hosts a variety of musical acts that appeal to many tastes -- everything from world music to bluegrass and rockabilly. Pack a picnic or pick up dinner on the go from many local restaurants in and around Union Square. Be sure to bring camping chairs, as public seating is limited.
Kids who can use a little freedom could bring their scooters or roller blades (don’t forget your helmet!) to roll around the less crowded areas. Or if your crew needs a music break, Lowes Foods City Park is one block away and easily within walking distance.
