Statesville Leisure Pool ~ A Fun Place to Splash

By Shelly Cain, Hickory NC Mom & MacKid Guest Writer July 19, 2018

Are you looking for a place to enjoy a waterpark without the high cost?  The Statesville Leisure Pool might just be the place for you!  I was recently able to visit with my daughter and parents, so I wanted to share the scoop.

  • “Pool” might be a little stretch. There is a VERY small swimming area, but that is made up for by the other water amenities. If you are looking for somewhere to just swim, there are better places.
  • There is a large area for younger kids to splash and slide. The young kids’ area has very shallow water, a slide, sprayers, and lots of room for fun. It is definitely 5 year old approved.
  • The lazy river is awesome for young and old. Kids 48 inches and smaller will have to wear a puddle jumper or other approved life jacket. The pool provides a few of these, but it was easier for us to take our own. My 67-year-old father enjoyed it just as much as my 5-year-old daughter!
  • Two water slides are available and manned by a lifeguard. You have to be at least 48 inches to ride the slides, but this mama can attest that they are fun! One of the slides is a bit smaller and perfect for tweens.
  • Shady seating is provided. I know there are still some sunbathers out there, but I am not one. I loved that there was enough shady seating to accommodate anyone wanting to cool off and stay out of the sun!
  • Outside food and toys are not allowed. Bags are checked at the entrance, so don’t try to sneak in food or drinks. They do have a snack bar with food and drinks for purchase.

Overall, I felt like it was a safe and fun place for the whole family! The pool is open weekends only Memorial Day through Labor Day, and 7 days a week while school is out for summer (June 9 - August 17, 2018). Hours are 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday and 1-6pm on Sundays; night swim is held 6-8pm Monday through Saturday evenings. Admission is $4 for ages 12 and under and $5 for ages 13 and over for day swim, $2 for ages 12 and under and $3 for ages 13 and over for night swim.
