Since 1913, The Hickory American Legion Fair features fun for the entire family including children's activities, entertainment, music, rides, commercial vendors, agricultural exhibits, and a wide variety of food and attractions. Held annually over Labor Day weekend, this year's fair runs August 29th - September 3rd, 2018. Read on to learn more and enter to win free admission!
The theme for the 105th Hickory American Legion Fair is "A Fair Gone Wild" and you won't want to miss the incredible entertainment! For the first time ever, Close Encounters of the Exotic Kind will feature big cats that will leap into your hearts! Kenya Safari brings their balancing and acrobatic talents to the fair and Lew-e the Clown's comedy circus will have some amazing acts. Our Grandstand Act was invited to come back this year; Cycle Circus Live and Galaxy Girl is a stimulating and exhilarating live display where mad motorcycle stunts and audacious acrobats collide (see Tina Winn go 127 feet high on a trapeze!). Hog Way Speedway Dennis Cook will be bringing back the amazing racing pigs and ducks. Randy Everette, the Chainsaw Artist, is back with different carvings. Be sure to walk through the Craft Barn with baked goods, sewing, agriculture and more, and take the children through the Livestock Barn to visit the cows, goats, sheep and hogs. Want to see what the fair looks like from the sky? Take a ride on the Carolina Helicopter Tour for only $20 per person (after gate admission). Also in the sky you'll find fireworks nightly (except Labor Day Monday) to wrap up each exciting day of entertainment, carnival rides and food.
On Wednesday evening from 5-6 pm ONLY, admission is FREE. School-aged children age 19 and under are admitted FREE on Thursday night. Senior Citizen and Veterans will be offered free admission Friday from 12-5pm. All other times, admission is the regular rate of age 0-6 FREE; age 7-17 $5.00; age 18 & up $7.00. Advance tickets are $5.00 each available at all three locations of Sig's Tire Center. Rides will be $1.25 per ticket with special rates for multiple tickets. Rides will be FREE from 5-6 pm ONLY on Wednesday and Thursday.
