Every summer, my mom and I would make a kind of Summer Bucket List. I could have put anything I wanted on that list: the beach, theme parks, or go-carts. One thing was always at the top—the Catawba Science Center. To me, the Catawba Science Center, with its infinity mirror and dioramas (I’m showing my age), was the must-see destination of the summer.
I guess after all these years, not much has changed. Now, with a family of my own, I am still thrilled when we get to walk through those big, heavy doors and take a left to get our entry stickers. And getting to have the experience with my own family is that much more exciting. As the new Publisher Mom of Hickory – W Piedmont Macaroni Kid, it’s that same feeling I hope to bring to you as a parent, grandparent or caregiver. The Catawba Valley is truly a special place, and my desire is that each newsletter will point you to how your family can strengthen bonds while experiencing all that our beautiful region has to offer.
I step into this role with the understanding that I steward an invaluable resource for our community. When I was a new mom, it was Macaroni Kid that I turned to, finding the best places to entertain and exhaust my boundless toddler. When my family and I moved from Charlotte back to Catawba County, again it was Macaroni Kid that acclimated me to my ever changing hometown. Whether you have been here your entire life or are just moving to our area, Hickory – W Piedmont Macaroni Kid will be a go-to resource for you, too.
My role is to insure Macaroni Kid will have all you have come to expect—an excellent Events Calendar where you can quickly and easily Find Your Family Fun™, inspiring articles that coach your parenting and spark ideas, and exciting opportunities to win your way to the best family-friendly events and shows in our region.
But, did you know you also have a role to play?
- In the coming days, you will have opportunities to provide feedback about what you want from your Macaroni Kid, and I want to hear from you! You can always email me at irish@macaronikid.com or contact me through social media.
- Our sponsors and advertisers allow the newsletters and Events Calendar to remain FREE to the community. If you appreciate these resources, simply clicking the ads you see on our site and newsletters and liking our business-focused posts on social media will let these sponsors know you appreciate their support and the resource they provide to the families of Catawba Valley through Macaroni Kid.
I am looking forward to a fantastic New Year together! Check out Meet Your Publisher to learn a little more about me. And thank you for being a part of Hickory – W Piedmont Macaroni Kid.
