Now through March 17th, 2019, the Hickory Museum of Art's Shuford Gallery hosts Exquisite Miniatures, a show by Artists West and Rachelle Siegrist. Currently, Hickory Museum of Art is an excellent location to take a family, as the museum has taken great care to make the art approachable for all ages. The Exquisite Miniatures show has pieces displayed at different heights so that even the smallest museum-goers can access the art. With scavenger hunt questions, parents will find it easy to guide their little ones through the miniatures. The art itself is unbelievable; by definition, the miniature art must be created painstakingly with tiny brushes. Magnifying glasses are provided to fully appreciate the extreme measures the artists must take to create these elaborate masterpieces.
About the artists from Hickory Museum of Art: "Wes and Rachelle Siegrist are an American husband and wife team who mesmerize viewers with miniature paintings so exquisitely crafted that they are often mistaken for tiny photographs. Their tiny treasures, as collectors often refer to them, typically measure less than 9 square inches and appear even more detailed when viewed under magnification. A hallmark of their work is their ability to convey the feeling of a larger canvas or the essence of the natural world in miniature."
