Description:
Since the 1940's, Sipe's Orchard Home has been a safe, nurturing and caring place for children. Today, one of the most popular programs at Sipe's is the Huckleberry Summer Camp. With wide open spaces, forest trails, and fishing ponds set among acres in rural Catawba County, the campus in Conover provides the ideal site for a back-to-basics, old-fashioned and fun-filled summer day camp for children. A perfect site, great activities, and an enthusiastic and well-trained staff add up to a summer of fun.

Activities:
Huckleberry Summer Camp's all-day program. Each week, campers participate in environmental hikes, swimming, arts & crafts, nutrition/cooking class, fishing, science experiments, bike days, outdoor games, movie days and lots more. Days have a mix of activities which are indoor and outdoor, quiet and active, all scheduled flexibly to accommodate the weather and safety considerations. Field trips take campers to fun local destinations like Asheboro Zoo, Greensboro Science Center, Kool Park Pool, Tweetsie Railroad and more. The all-inclusive fee includes breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and all activity costs. You only register and pay for the weeks you want your kids to attend.

Food:
All campers receive breakfast, lunch, and snack every day. No need to pack your own. Meals are prepared here in our kitchen and served in our dining hall. If campers go on a field trip, we pack their lunch.

Staff:
Each staff member receives training to prepare them for camp. All Sipe's personnel have had criminal background checks, drugs screens, tb tests, and physicals. Our Summer Camp staff are educated and experienced with children. The staff are energized and excited about camp and are trained in child development, emergency response, and First Aid.

Scholarships:
A limited number of scholarships are available thanks to funding from Sipe's Orchard Home. Applications are available; scholarships will be awarded based on need. To qualify, the family must not be eligible for other funding sources such as DSS Subsidy. The family must be in need of assistance due to hardship.  Scholarship info is available at the website.

Business Review:

"Summer of 2017 was the first year that my son attended Huckleberry Summer Camp. That was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made for him. Every day I picked him up, he would have a new story about a new experience, new friend, new craft, and so much more. As an only child, he learned a lot about social interaction and creating and maintaining new friendships. It is very obvious that the teachers enjoy their work here and love on every kid as if they were their own. Since school started, he's reminded me at least once a month to make sure that I don't forget to sign him up at Huckleberry for the following summer (and, yes, I've already signed him up). I can't wait to see what they have in store for him this year - and every year after that." -- Rosa A.

"As a parent of a special needs child, I can’t imagine sending my child to any other summer camp besides Sipe’s Orchard Home Huckleberry Camp. My son can’t wait to get to summer camp in the mornings. The staff there are super with all the kids, especially mine. My son loves the outings that the kids attend every week. Every day holds a new adventure for the kids. As a Mom, Sipe’s Orchard is the top summer camp around. I can’t imagine my son going anywhere else." -- Karen H.
