Featured Camp | Catawba County 4-H Summer Spark

Ready to spark learning and fun in your child's summer?  4-H Summer Fun is sponsored by North Carolina Cooperative Extension and provides day classes and trips designed to encourage youth to learn new things, develop new skills, and explore new interests. Programs are taught and supervised by NC Cooperative Extension staff and 4-H & Community Volunteers.  


Recommended Kids' Ages:
5 and up, need not be a Catawba County resident or current 4-H member

Location:
Classes held at Catawba County Agricultural Resource Center, 1175 South Brady Ave, Newton, NC; trips depart from the same location (unless specified otherwise in the camp packet). 

  • Farm to Table – June 18-20 (9:00-4:00) Ages 9 and up. Cost $50
  • Wilderness Survival – June 21 (9:00-3:00) Ages 8 and up. Cost $15
  • Horsin’ Around- June 22 (9:00 – 1:00) Ages 6 and up. Cost $15
  • Renew and Recycle-June 25 (9:00-4:30) Ages 8 and up. Cost $20
  • Learn, Eat, Go and Grow-June 26-28 (9:00 – 3:00) Ages 8-12. Cost $50
  • Percussion Experiment Day-July 1 (12:00-5:00 ) Ages 7-12. Cost $25
  • Hands to Service- July 2 (8:15-2:00) Ages 12 and up. Cost $15
  • Barn Quilt Painting at the Farm- July 10 (9:00-noon) Ages 7-14. Cost $35
  • Quest to Madagascar – July 10 (1:30-4:00) Ages 5-10. Cost $10
  • Giant Games -July 16 (1:00-3:00) Ages 5-10. Cost $ 5
  • Hands to Service-July 17 (12:15-7:15) Ages 12 and up. Cost $15
  • Real Life Academy -July 24-25 (8:30-3:30) Ages 12-17. Cost $35
  • Mini-Society – July 29-Aug 1 (9:00-3:30)Ages 9-13. Cost $55
  • Robotics Basics- August 7 (9:00-12:00) Ages 9 and up. Cost $10
  • Chopped Plus: 4-H Style! August 13-14 (12:00-4:00) Ages 9 and up. Cost $20
  • Discover the Wild –August 15 (9:00-1:00) Ages 6 and up. Cost $10
  • Investigate Health –August 20-22 (9:00-3:00) Ages 12 and up. Cost $50
  • Taste of 4-H –August 23 (3:00-6:00) Ages 6 and up. Cost-$5

Scholarships:
Summer fun scholarships available based on financial need. Priority is given to 4-H families, but applications accepted from all families. To apply for scholarship assistance, call the Extension Office or email Donna_mull@ncsu.edu to request an application; the deadline to apply is May 15.
