The month of March is designated "National Reading Month" in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. This "holiday" month serves to encourage kids (of all ages) to read every day.
Reading on a regular basis can have a positive effect on your mental health: it increases cognitive functions such as memory, vocabulary, and empathy, and reduces stress levels.
Join us in #NationalReadingMonth!
We're making it a goal to read EVERY DAY. I hope you and your kids join in on the challenge as well. To help encourage your young readers, here are some local Dr. Seuss birthday celebrations happing around Hickory/western Piedmont. Remember, dates and times can change without notice, so be sure you confirm before heading out.

Can you take on the challenge? Click the image above to download and print out your bookshelves, then fill in the spines with the titles of all the books you and your kids are reading this month! Show us how you're filling up the books on Facebook or Instagram. We'll share some of our favorites! If your child isn't a reader yet, you can read the books to them. The goal is to read EVERY DAY in March.
To make this month EVEN SWEETER our friends at SweetFrog are offering 50% off a kid's cup for each child that completes the log! All you have to do is print it out, fill it out as you read every day, and when it's full bring it to SweetFrog in Hickory. Thanks, SweetFrog!
