Carousel Kids Consignment Sale

Accepting New Consignors

July 8, 2021

Did you know that the best place to sell your children's items is through bi-annual and annual local consignment sales? Consignment sales can be a quick way for moms, dads, and grandparents to sell the piles of outgrown toys, clothes, and shoes taking up much need real estate in your home. It's local, organized, indoors, and usually lasts more than one day. Organizations like Carousel Kids Consignment will organize, promote, and sell your items for you. Sales like this appeal to a larger number of bargain hunters, meaning you can price your items a little higher than a similar sale, like a garage sale. You can also move more items in a shorter amount of time, and not have to arrange to meet multiple buyers as you would with Marketplace and similar sites. Bonus: Sellers usually get invited to shop the sale early too.

Carousel Kids Consignment Sale is now accepting NEW consignors for their fall sale, which will take place October 8th and 9th 2021, at their new venue: The Foothills Higher Education and Conference Center (2128 South Sterling Street, Morganton). You can contact Jennifer Head at 828-655-5137 to sign up or get more information.

Here are some tips to get the most from the sale:

Don't bring clothing that you wouldn't buy: Stained and torn items simply won't sell, and most consignments won't accept them. So take the time to toss your clothing in the wash and spot treat any stains. Wipe down any toys you're planning to sell, and replace any batteries (don't leave the batteries out, if buyers are second-guessing whether or not something works, they're likely not going to purchase it). Only bring clean, working items that have not been recalled.

Clothing prices usually range from $2 to $3 for casual styles, a little more for brand-name items (Gymboree, Guess, Baby Gap). You still want them to be affordable, so I don't recommend pricing them above $5. Full outfits, special dresses, jackets, and coats are ok to price a bit higher. Remember that consignment shoppers are looking for the best deal, so price it to move. Fall consignment sales are great for gently used toys, as a lot of shoppers are thinking ahead to Christmas.
