1. 🐾 Homemade Dog Biscuits

Got a pet lover in your life? These homemade dog biscuits are paw-sitively adorable and easy to make. Plus, kids will have a blast mixing, rolling, and cutting out the dough!

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (unsweetened, no xylitol!)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup water

How to make them:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix all the ingredients in a big bowl. Kids can get their hands in there to help knead the dough — it’s messy fun!
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. Use cookie cutters (bone-shaped, hearts, or holiday-themed ones) to cut out the treats.
  5. Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 18-20 minutes, then let them cool completely.

Gift tip: Package these in small holiday gift bags or mason jars with a festive bow. Include the recipe or a list of ingredients so the gift recipient knows they're safe for dogs.

2. 🎨 Homemade Salt Dough Ornaments

Salt dough ornaments are a timeless holiday craft that’s fun for kids and adults alike. They’re versatile, durable, and can be painted or decorated in countless ways to create personalized gifts for loved ones.

What you'll need:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • Holiday cookie cutters
  • Ribbon or twine for hanging

Instructions:

  1. Combine the flour, salt, and water in a bowl to form a dough. If it’s sticky, add a little more flour.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick.
  3. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Popular choices include stars, trees, and hearts, but kids can get creative!
  4. Use a straw to make a small hole near the top of each ornament for hanging.
  5. Bake the ornaments on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 250°F for 1.5-2 hours, or until completely dry and hard. Flip halfway through for even drying.
  6. Once cooled, decorate with acrylic paint, markers, or glitter. Seal with a coat of Mod Podge or clear varnish for added durability.

Gift tip: Bundle a set of ornaments in a festive box or wrap each one individually in tissue paper. These keepsake ornaments can last for decades!

3. 🖼️ DIY Photo or Artwork Coasters

Need a gift for someone who already “has everything”? These coasters are the perfect personalized touch. Plus, they’re easy, practical, and kids will feel so proud seeing their work used daily! The one pictured above has been treasured for years.❤️

What you’ll need:

  • 4x4 ceramic tiles (find them at your local hardware store for around $1!)
  • Prints of your favorite photos or your child’s artwork (cut to the size of the tiles)
  • Glue stick
  • Mod Podge
  • Small foam brush
  • Felt or self-adhesive felt pads for the bottom

How to make them:

  1. Glue the photo or artwork onto the front of each tile. Smooth out any air bubbles.
  2. Add self-adhesive felt pads or glue small felt squares to the bottom of the tile to protect surfaces.
  3. Brush on a thin coat of Mod Podge across the top and sides of the tile. Let it dry for 15 minutes, then repeat with two more coats.
  4. Let the coasters cure for at least three days to fully seal before using.

Gift Tip: Wrap up a set of coasters with a festive ribbon or tuck them into a holiday gift bag. It’s a thoughtful and practical gift perfect for people your kids love.

The Joy of Giving Handmade

There’s nothing like the glow on a child’s face when they hand over a gift they’ve made themselves. These projects are as much about the process as the product — your kids will have a blast creating, and the lucky recipients will treasure these thoughtful, handmade gifts.

So grab your crafting or baking supplies, turn up the holiday music, and create a one-of-a-kind gift sure to be a favorite this holiday season!
