Description
Western Piedmont Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro John Gordon Ross, will perform Masterworks IV - "Celtic Memories." Maeve Gilchrist will perform, using a lever harp (Celtic harp), the works of "Tam O'Shanter Overture," Op. 51 (Malcolm Arnold), **World Premiere** of "In Pursuit," Concerto for Lever Harp and Orchestra (Gilchrist/Benton), "Symphony #3 in A minor," Op. 56 (Scottish) (Mendelssohn/Bartholdy). Celtic harpist, Maeve Gilchrist and composer, Luke Benton, have collaborated on an incredibly unique piece for lever harp and orchestra titled, "In Pursuit" - a world premier! Inspired by a book written by Mave's mother titled, "In Pursuit of Kate Corbett", the concerto follows the incredible tale of Gilchrist's great-great-grandmother, Kate Corbett, who traveled with her family from her prosperous Dublin home across the Atlantic, eventually reaching the alien landscape of Wyoming where they settled into a life of homesteading.
