Description
In light of Governor Cooper’s COVID-19 briefing on November 17 announcing Catawba County’s orange level alert for substantial community spread and in the interest of public safety, the City of Hickory has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Tree Lighting scheduled for November 20 at 7 p.m.
Santa will make a surprise visit to Hickory to magically light the tree in the near future. The virtual tree lighting will be shared on the City’s website and social media channels. Stay tuned!
Unfortunately, due to state health guidelines and mass gathering limits, the City’s annual Christmas Parade will not take place this year. Although the parade will not take place, the City will have a Christmas Tree Lighting on Union Square on Friday, November 20, at 7 p.m. The tree lighting will also be livestreamed on Facebook for those who wish to participate virtually.
