The Annual Bethlehem Star Lighting is set at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Bethlehem as a Drive Thru event due to Covid-19. The event is hosted by the Bethlehem Community Development Association. The Bethlehem Star Lighting has been an annual event on the first Saturday night of December for more than three decades.
Directions for Visit - To maintain social distancing, only active participants in the various scenes should exit their cars. No walking through the scenes will be allowed. No bathrooms will be available for visitors. Before starting through the scenes please turn off your headlights. Ten scenes will be available around the periphery of the Mt. Pisgah parking lot. Seven churches in Bethlehem are participating in readings and staffing various scenes. A QR code will be used to play a YouTube link of the narrations and scripture for the individual scenes. To use this feature, visitors will need a smart phone, either an iPhone or android to play the audio accessed with the QR code. The scripture and narrative will be available as a link on the Mt. Pisgah webpage but may not be synced with the scenes.
We are doing things differently this year because of the Covid-19 restrictions and the need for abundant caution for the well-being of visitors. Instead of an outdoor service around bonfires with hot chocolate and Christmas carols, walking to the manger, and having musical groups perform, the program will now be a drive thru event from 6:00-7:30 pm on December 5. Promised Land Ministries and Pastor Billy Honeycutt will serve as the host church for 2020. Through the efforts of many groups and individuals, we hope and pray for a safe and Holy Night in Bethlehem.
